Mondo Professional Development
The Mondo Professional Development Department has been
providing professional services to New York City schools and districts for over
fifteen years. In 1995 we expanded our services by offering quality classroom
libraries and instructional materials that teachers have found to be invaluable
for their professional growth and instruction in their classrooms.
In 1998 Mondo commenced the Building Essential Literacy
(BEL) Project, a joint venture with New York University and the University of
Melbourne, Australia. Mondo BEL
operates in over five states and 40 schools across the USA. This project
provides the scientific research evidence for the effectiveness of the Mondo
Staff Development model and Bookshop materials. This evidence clearly indicates
the change in organizational and teacher beliefs and practices brought about by
the BEL professional development that results in improved student achievement.
